Whats on Watson

The world may know Emma Watson as the actress portraying Hermione Granger for the very successful Harry Potter movies, but there's more to this beauty than meets the eye.

As Hermione

Emma Watson is internationally known to play Hermione Granger, one of J.K Rowling's leading ladies. Hermione is very intelligent, loyal, and kind witch in the Harry Potter books and movies. Rowling states that Hermione's character was "an exaggeration of how I was when I was younger" (wiki). Hermione as a character is vital to the story line, and is a great role model for girls and women. She is a strong woman who uses her intelligence, instead of her looks, to succeed in life; defends others who cannot defend themselves; and has unwavering faith and loyalty to her friends. The message Hermione sends as a character is: Be proud of who you are, and you can do anything you put your mind to.

Emma's big break was when she was cast to play Hermione across the seven novels. Personally, Emma was exactly how I imagined Hermione to be. Reviews have been very positive of her acting in the installments, especially in the most recent release: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1. Apart from Harry Potter she has been in two other movies, Ballet Shoes and The Tale of Desperaux.

"The saddest thing for a girl to do is to dumb herself down for a guy" - Emma Watson

My fair lady

One thing I love about Emma is that she is very classy. She carries herself with a down-to-earth attitude, not letting her fame inflate her ego. And best of all, Emma shows how you can be sexy without being revealing:
“At every photo shoot, they want to make me sexy ... make me look like a rock chick. It just felt like I was being pushed to be something I wasn’t: ‘Oh, look at Hermione, she’s all grown up now!’ But that’s just not me. I don’t get my flesh out. I mean, I wear mini-dresses, but I try to do it tastefully. You don’t want to see too much. I hate seeing big, huge cleavage. My reaction is, Put it away! If it’s too much, it’s just vulgar. I think it’s so much sexier to be understated. It’s more intriguing to be sexy in a less obvious way.”

Clearly, confidence is a lady's sexiest dress.
And to top it all off, Emma is currently studying at Ivy League Brown University!

The Hair

If you were on hiatus for a few months, you may have missed all the internet buzz over Emma's new pixie cut look. Because she was contracted to play Hermione Granger, Emma was not allowed to change her physical appearance, or risk continuity. This includes drastic hair cuts and tans. Once the final film of Harry Potter was finished, Emma decided to cut it all off.

"Oh my God, it was the most liberating thing! The stylist just grabbed the back of my hair and took a whole ponytail of hair out. It felt amazing. I love it. I missed all that experimentation that most teenagers go through, I’ve wanted to do this since I was about 16, so as soon as I had the chance I was like, ‘Right. This is it.'"
I personally think the look suits her, it looks both mature and fun.

Fashionista

In the Autumn and Winter season of 2008, Emma was chosen to be the face of Burberry, and again in the Spring and Summer season of 2010. It was during this time that her fashion sense really began to develop and influence. Since then, she has appeared on the cover of top magazines such as Vogue, Vanity Fair, Elle, Style, and Times Magazine.

Anyone else remember when she wore these platform heels ages before the trend?

People Tree

In 2010, Emma collaborated with the fair trade and organic fashion brand People Tree and again for the Spring and Summer season for 2011. You can read about her experience and how Fair Trade affects poverty at her official website Emma Watson.com.

{Oh, and the photoshoot looks pretty fantastic too, of course}

You can check out her line at People Tree and the full photoshoot here.

Lancôme

As if her resumé wasn't impressive enough, on March 14, 2011 Lancôme announced Emma as the new face for their makeup line, making her one of the youngest ambassadors for the company. She will now join the ranks of other ambassadors such as Julia Roberts.
“Thanks to her charm, romanticism and her incredible modernity, Emma Watson has become the icon of her generation. We are delighted by this new collaboration with Emma who brings a fresh spirit to Lancôme”, says Youcef Nabi, President of Lancôme International.’ {source}
