Mascara is one of my favorite make-up necessities. Within one swipe your eye lashes look longer, darker, fuller, and it instantly brightens your face. The only problem is finding a mascara that works best for you. Read on for a product review of four mascaras I have used in the past!
Covergirl Exact Eyelights

This mascara claims to not only lengthen your lashes but brighten your natural eye color using a tinted mascara that reflects the light. They have mascaras specially selected for brown eyes, blue eyes, green eyes, and hazel eyes. As a stocking stuffer I got the blue eyes mascara, eyeliner, and eyeshadow quad.
Length: This mascara gives a more natural look. The length isn't staggering, rather short.
Clumping: Little to no clumping
Color: There is a "hint" of blue, but its not a blue mascara. I couldn't really notice a strong blue colour nor an overall 'brightening effect'
Thickness: This is a more natural looking mascara, and wasn't very thick.
Overall: This is a nice mascara to have if you want a more natural look, its easy to apply and easy to wash off with eye-makeup remover.
Buying Factor: I don't think I would purchase this again.
Maybelline XXL Pro Waterproof

This mascara comes in two parts, a base coat to prime and tame lashes, and the dark mascara itself.
Length: I really like the length. It was enough to open up the eye, if it was any longer it would look too unnatural. Applying the base coat and then the top coat definitely lengthens your lashes.
Clumping: Application was very smooth, I remember thinking to myself "Like silk." There is little to no clumping if you apply the top coat immediately after the base coat before it dries.
Color: I used "Very black" and it certainly was 'very black.' The color darkened the lashes without making them look fake.
Thickness: Thickened lashes without a lot of clumping, was able to get the smaller lashes.
Overall: I really quite liked this mascara. It lengthened and thickened quite nicely, and application was smooth and easy. However This mascara has a tendency to smudge. Throughout the day as I check in a mirror there are dark smudges above and below my eye. Some smudges are more defined! I would apply a nude eyeshadow hoping to decrease any smudging and it did not help. This is probably the breaking point for me. Also, it was very difficult to remove the mascara. I have tried other waterproof mascaras, but this one was really difficult to get off. Instead it would smudge even more, and I would get little flecks into my eyes. All that scrubbing probably lost a few lashes as well. If it didn't smudge and was easier to remove this would be the perfect mascara.
Buying Factor: sigh, if it weren't for the smudging, I would buy this again.
Revlon Grow Luscious by Fabulash

Jumping on the "natural lash growth" bandwagon is Revlon! I've tried the L'oreal lash boosting serum and was quite happy with it and so had high hopes for this mascara. It did not disappoint.
Length: Lengthened lashes with little to no clumping. Easy application. Lengthened lashes with a more-or-less natural look.
Clumping: Very litle
Color: I used a brown color because I wanted it to look more natural (since I'm using a mascara that promotes natural growth). Since the color was lighter it did not make my eyes "pop" like usual mascaras, but it did make my lashes look more naturally longer and thicker.
Thickness: Makes eyelashes look thicker, very easy to apply and no flakes falling off or clumping.
Overall: This mascara states it will help your lashes grow longer and thicker, and they are right. I used this as well as the L'oreal serum, so the results aren't perfect because I used two products at the same time, but over time I did notice that my eyelashes looked longer, and the smaller lashes looked longer and thicker as well. I also noticed that I lost less lashes as I removed the mascara. Every now and then in a photo or mirror I think "wow, dont my lashes look nice!" However, dont expect dramatic results. I noticed over several weeks of use that smaller lashes looked longer, and that was enough for me, it never looked like I was wearing false eyelashes. But, I thought having a serum which promotes healthy growth is better than none at all, and I'll take all that I can get. I really liked this mascara, one of my favorites!
Buying Factor: I would buy this again, or recommend it to a friend!
Maybelline Full and Soft

A cult favorite, Full and Soft includes Vitamin E to help protect your lashes.
Length: Similar to covergirl (above), the length isn't long like the Maybelline XXL Pro mascara. It is a more natural look. I expected my lashes to look longer.
Clumping: Little to no clumping
Color: Used "black," which made my eyes 'pop.'
Thickness: This is a more natural looking mascara, and wasn't very thick.
Overall: I really liked this mascara, application was easy and 'silky', easy to remove, and gave a nice natural look. It was able to grab every lash, and did not clump. When washing it off, I noticed I lost no lashes. I think they could have its lengthening properties improve a little. Overall, one of my favorites.
Buying Factor: I would buy this again, or recommend it to a friend!
